Kirk enters the Enterprise transporter room to be sent to the Excalibur.
The machine does its thing and he appears in the Excalibur and walks off to join Scotty for lunch.
But after the machine in the Enterprise does its thing the Captain is still there, standing in the machine in the transporter room.
So there are two guys walking around in different starships, each purporting to be Kirk.
But which is Captain Kirk?
Why, the first guy, if either.
How many times have Kirk-successors let themselves be murdered and replaced in this process?
The real Kirk only did it once.
