The moral dignity of man

This morning a motorcyclist was reported to have led police on a merry chase in California at a hundred miles an hour or so on the freeway.

At that speed he more than once stood up on the bike seat and rode no hands.

He even took a selfie while doing it.

Someone watching tweeted "Where are the pot holes when you need one?"

A policeman tried to kick him off his bike.

Leave it to Kant to insist the dignity of man is wholly independent of his actual qualities or conduct.

Much as the early Church quickly insisted the validity of the sacraments depends not at all on any lack of sinfulness or presence of orthodox faith in the administering clerics.
