Marxism is a delusion, an absurd fairy tale in a silly disguise, dressed up as a science, invented and spread by exceptionally bright and deluded people, many of them driven by hate or pathological ambition merely disguised as true faith.
It is hard not to think of some of the most well-known of the world's communist leaders as exceptionally organized serial killers or mass murderers.
Pol Pot and Mao, for example.
But among the monsters who rode to power on the back of this dreadful myth, Fidel was perhaps among the least monstrous and his brother Raoul is at worst a not much worse than routine Latin American tyrant.
It won't last forever.
Cuba will recover.
