Hillary's problem and the Democrats' problem

The problem with the white men who might try for the nomination is that they are white men and certainly can't fill the women and non-whites of the party with the enthusiasm without which a Democrat has much less chance of beating the Republican opponent.

But Hillary has her own enthusiasm problems.

Can Hillary Clinton overcome 'politics as usual' to bridge enthusiasm gap?

Not everybody is a goddam rock star.

If Democrats who aren't rock stars can't win the party is in deep, deep trouble.

And that may be where decades of alienation of whites, especially white men, from the party are taking us.

Yes, the liberals enthusiastic about the party's chances owing to changing American demographics have been conning themselves and others, mostly out of personal enthusiasm for attacking white people in general and of course white men in particular, whether white or not themselves.

The numbers don't work as well as expected because American demographics aren't changing that quickly, because too many of the demographic segments they need don't show up to vote without a rock star to draw them to the polls, and because they were overestimating the devotion of Hispanics and other minorities apart from American blacks to the Democratic Party.

This is not good.

Apart from the stupid and often vicious identity politics of the left, the Democrats truly are by far much better for the more than just 99%, of whom the Republicans are devoted and relentless enemies.

Nearly everybody on the Republican side is on the wrong side.
