The cosmopolitan left/right alliance counterattacks

Against Bernie, for open borders

The author says unrestricted immigration would boost the economy and, the real clincher, "[i]t’s also a moral imperative for those who truly wish to help the world’s poor" by letting them flood the country and giving them your neighbor's job, or your brother's, or the guy down the street's, or your own, because they'll take a hell of a lot less to do it than you are getting right now, pal.

And it will "boost the economy" for those who own the economy, just as does anything that significantly lowers the price of a crucial factor of production, in this case the wages of American working people.

Cory Massimino, writing in The Guardian.

Make no mistake.

Lots of people who speak for the younger generation of liberals agree with this, and with free trade, exactly because they diminish the wealth gap between America and the Third World in large part by lowering American wages.
