The PC insist that gender or gender identity is different from sex, the former being a personality and character thing and the latter a physical thing.
You know, to put it very, very simply, you can be girly or butch with lady-parts or guy-junk.
It seems Rowling is being attacked for herself insisting on that distinction.
But maybe not.
If you insist the designations of male and female, man and woman, and the associated pronouns - not to mention use of the rest rooms or shower rooms - reflect sex you've decided gender, when opposed to sex, is merely a misfortune.
Or perhaps a joke in bad taste.
