Affleck got heated; Maher and Harris remained pretty cool.
Affleck repeatedly interrupted an interview period of the show when the host and the interviewee - Sam Harris, on this occasion - are supposed to talk without interruption by the other guests.
He was rude and thuggish and almost physically menacing.
As for West's remarks, Maher makes no bones about his impatience with all religions and their nonsense, but he is quite clear that Islam today is a much bigger problem in the world than any other major religion both because so many Muslims take their religion so much more seriously than devotees of other faiths and because the Koran urges actual violence where other sacred texts don't, or don't so much.
If you must take your religion all that seriously, let it be Quakerism, or maybe Buddhism.
That would make you a peaceful sort.
But Islam?
Whoa!
West doesn't see that.
Thus proving Maher's point.
