“Hey Karen. Watch your mouth,” Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot tweeted Thursday in response to White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who described her as the “derelict mayor” of the city because of the surge in violence there.
At a guess, McEnany was thinking "dereliction of duty" while Lightfoot was thinking "dumpster diving wino".
But maybe not.
That tweet came the same evening as three people, including a 5-month-old baby boy, were shot in Chicago.
CBS Chicago reported that the Windy City has seen a 34 percent increase in murders and a 45 percent increase in shootings through the end of June compared with the same time last year.
But on Friday, Lightfoot was doubling down on her clapback after receiving praise for it online.
"This won't be the last time that his flacks try to take me on. But good luck," Lightfoot said.
"I'm still here. I'm going to lead this city the best I can.”

Meanwhile, in New York City, violence has skyrocketed.
The New York Post this week reported that on Monday alone, 17 people were shot in the city, while last month was the most violent June in the city since 1996.

But Mayor Bill de Blasio had made as one of his priorities the painting of a large yellow “Black Lives Matter” mural down Fifth Avenue -- right outside Trump Tower, in a clear knock at the current occupant of the White House.
Trump, another politician who is fond of a social media battle with his political foes, criticized de Blasio for the move and noted the mayor's efforts to cut police budgets as it tries to get to grips with a new crime wave.
“NYC is cutting Police $’s by ONE BILLION DOLLARS, and yet the @NYCMayor is going to paint a big, expensive, yellow Black Lives Matter sign on Fifth Avenue, denigrating this luxury Avenue,” Trump tweeted this month.
“Here’s what you don’t understand: Black people BUILT 5th Ave and so much of this nation,” de Blasio shot back.
“Your ‘luxury’ came from THEIR labor, for which they have never been justly compensated. We are honoring them. The fact that you see it as denigrating your street is the definition of racism.”
We are all familiar with and tired of the lies of the Great Fat Orange Klansman, but I at any rate am tiring of the ludicrous liberal lie, apparently to be endlessly repeated, that the black people of America "built this country".
While everyone else lazed around sipping Mint Juleps, no doubt.
And I confess I oppose the demand for reparations.
I deny most of the claims offered to defend that demand and accept those offered against it, as well as many other things that could be offered against it but generally aren't.

A garage door pull-down rope?
Kayleigh McEnany Defends Trump's Tweet Criticizing NASCAR For ‘Rush To Judgment’ About Noose
Reportedly, it was just a mistake and the noose found in Wallace's garage was left there before the garage was assigned him and was only a garage door pull-down rope, according to the FBI.
And Wallace seemingly accepted that explanation and moved on with his life.
The Great Fat Orange Klansman tweeted it was all a fake, not an honest mistake.
I have never seen a picture of that noose.
For a garage door you'd expect a length of rope with a balled up knot made of multiple simple knots at the bottom for a person to grab to pull the door down.
Or maybe this sort of knot.
For a hanging you'd expect a quite distinctive type of noose that has only that use, so far as I am aware.
A quick search found this.

That would actually make sense.
The Uni-knot doesn't slip so it would work for a door pull.
But the hangman's noose slips. It has to, given its job. And that would not work well for a door pull.

“Based on the evidence we had, we thought our drivers – that one of our drivers had been threatened, a driver who had been extremely courageous in recent words and actions. It’s our responsibility to react and investigate, and that’s exactly what we did.”
Nascar asked officials at every track to check their garages this week.
The story is dated June 25.
Nascar said out of 1,684 garage stalls at 29 tracks, only 11 had a garage door pull-down rope tied in a knot.
The only one fashioned in a noose was the one discovered Sunday by a crew member in Wallace’s No. 43 garage stall.

On Tuesday, authorities said the rope had been hanging there since last fall and thus was not a hate crime targeting the 26-year-old Wallace.
US attorney Jay Town and FBI special agent in charge Johnnie Sharp Jr said “nobody could have known Mr. Wallace would be assigned” to that same stall.
Wallace never saw the rope.
He said Phelps came to see him Sunday night at the track with “tears running down his face.”
He also told CNN: “ It was a noose. Whether it was tied in 2019 ... it is a noose.”

Still, she (probably) and many others (certainly) on that network and at CNN and BBC News, many of them white, validate the warnings of what now seems an age ago, when Trump and others first claimed it's not really just about public honors for the Confederacy.
It's about a veto on any public honors exercised by agents of the racial left for whom not many whites would be allowed monuments in the United States of America, or perhaps in any white settler-state in the world.

Her anticipation of the eventual demographic eclipse of whites and her insistence that the Democrats behave as though it's already happened and magically made blacks the US majority, or at least the majority of the Democratic Party (it absolutely won't do the former and probably won't do the latter), will seem excessive to many and scary to some.
[The online CIA Factbook says the US is still over 70 % white and about 13 % black and above 15% all others. Hispanic is not a race but an ethnicity, and Hispanics may be of any race and are so counted in the US census.]
[Political sites or organizations of any persuasion seem all to insist it's really about non-Hispanic whites rather than whites in general. Because why? Justices Sotomayor and the late Cardozo not white enough? Does Juan Carlos de Borbón seem a little too dark?]
She wants the Democrats to behave like a nonwhite - a racial left party is what she really means - party, at least as regards its agenda, and to more or less ignore the (non-racial left) whites who presumably make up an actual majority of its voters, members, and officials by a pretty long way.
She says this is what they need to do to win elections; trying to bring back white Obama voters who went with Trump last time - who make no sense at all to me - won't work.
Of course she says that.
Given the outsize roll she wants for the racial left and their ludicrous, anti-white agenda, what else would she say?
MSNBC and CNN and Donald Trump are all just fine with that.
Miller, Bannon, and even David Duke will send her fan mail and flowers.

President Donald Trump blasted New York City's plan to paint the phrase "Black Lives Matter" on Fifth Avenue in front of Trump Tower, calling it a "symbol of hate" and demanding the city spend the money on policing instead.
NYC officials said last week they would emulate other cities and paint the message in large letters on a prominent roadway -- in this case, right in front of the president's flagship building.

Supreme Court, in 5-4 ruling, strikes down restrictive Louisiana abortion law
The Supreme Court ruled Monday that Louisiana's tough restriction on abortions violates the Constitution, a surprising victory for abortion rights advocates from an increasingly conservative court.
The 5-4 decision, in which Chief Justice John Roberts joined with the court's four more liberal justices, struck down a law passed by the Louisiana Legislature in 2014 that required any doctor offering abortion services to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles.

The challengers said the requirement was identical to a Texas law the Supreme Court struck down in 2016.
With the vote of then-Justice Anthony Kennedy, the court ruled that Texas imposed an obstacle on women seeking access to abortion services without providing any medical benefits.
Kennedy was succeeded by the more conservative Brett Kavanaugh, appointed by President Donald Trump, who was among the four dissenters Monday.
Justice Stephen Breyer, who wrote the Texas decision, also wrote Monday's ruling.

Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the four liberal justices because of Supreme Court precedent, emphasizing that the Louisiana law was identical to a credentialing requirement in a Texas statute invalidated by the court's 2016 ruling in the case of Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas filed a blistering opinion dissenting from a Monday decision to strike down a Louisiana law that required abortion doctors to obtain admitting privileges at a nearby hospital, calling the court's record on abortion "grievously wrong."
The pitched dissent made clear that Thomas is ready to tear down the court's protections for abortion completely in his most explicit comments yet that precedents all the way back to Roe v. Wade should fall.
Vice President Mike Pence tweeted, “After today’s disappointing decision by SCOTUS, one thing is clear: We need more Conservative justices on the U.S. Supreme Court.”
So of course he wants to appoint more of them to put unelected conservatives in possession of the law.

The campaign said that 36% of its senior staff are people of color, but did not disclose how much of its overall campaign staff are people of color.
The campaign also noted that women are in the majority of both the campaign’s senior staff and its full staff.
The candidate has faced warnings from activists that he must be careful not to take the Black community for granted.

The Klansman in Bozo emerges with a shout out
If this was intentional - and I think it was - it was not a "dog whistle", much less was it "code".
It was more of a blatant shout out to the alt.right.
The kind of folks we saw and heard at Charlottesville.
Trump thanked 'great people' shown in Twitter video in which a man chants 'white power'
Check out the video.
No mistaking the guy in the cart shouting "White power!" repeatedly, fist raised.
This is a chant or slogan of nobody but committed and very self-aware white racists.
The tweet was deleted after the news had insured everyone was aware of it.
President Donald Trump on Sunday morning widely shared a video he said is from the Villages, a retirement community in Florida, in which a man driving a golf cart with Trump campaign posters is seen chanting "white power."
The President retweeted the video that showed the community's Trump supporters and anti-Trump protesters arguing with one another.
The President thanked the "great people" shown in the video.
"Thank you to the great people of The Villages. The Radical Left Do Nothing Democrats will Fall in the Fall. Corrupt Joe is shot. See you soon!!" he wrote in the tweet.
Roughly three hours later, the tweet no longer appeared in Trump's timeline.
Ask yourself this.
If the Duce had seen and heard the fellow in the golf cart covered with Trump signs shouting "White power!" and pumping his fist at a live rally, what would have been his reaction?
Would he have blanched in horror?
Would he instantly have publicly rejected the man and his support and the support of anybody like him as somebody like McCain or Romney would have done?
Pshaw.
That is not what he did when he was told David Duke supported him in 2016, when he and Pence both very clearly did not want to reject the support of the racist right.
If this had happened at a McCain or Romney support rally and they said or did nothing that would prove they were not aware.
