Wesley Clark on MSNBC just repeated the peacenik, anti-FDR canard that US sanctions on the Japanese economy left that country no choice but to go to war with us.
Ballacks, the sanctions were intended to inhibit further expansion of Japanese conquests in the Far East, and had the Japanese been willing peace could have been preserved.
They just weren't, committed as they were to expansion of the Japanese Empire to include lots of territory then parts of various European Empires, and more of China, and other stray bits.
He'll be repeating that other canard, rightly and indignantly rejected by William L. Shirer, that the Versailles Treaty was so draconian that it forced the poor abused Germans, and poor abused Hitler, into war against the quondam allies.
Of course, no one complains about the far more draconian post WW2 European settlement that so prominently featured both the truncation and partition of Germany and kept the peace right up through the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Warsaw Pact, and Communism in Eastern Europe.
Phooey.
All the same, Bolton has wanted an outright war of regime change against Iran for decades, and has got the moron in the White House to reject O's nuclear deal without cause and impose so draconian a regime of sanctions that the Mullahs genuinely fear an internal collapse unless they can get the US to back off.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch said on Sunday that the FBI will delete mentions of ISIS when they release transcripts of the 911 calls Omar Mateen made during his attack on an Orlando nightclub.
When Chuck Todd asked Lynch what was going to be left out of the transcript, she said, “What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups and further his propaganda.”
Lynch told CNN’s Dana Bash that the whitewashing of the terrorist’s ISIS pledge was being done to “avoid revictimizing those who went through this horror.”
Laughable, it is so obvious, if it were not infuriating, cowardly, and shameful.
Well, anyway, annoying and rather a joke.
In some respects, though not at all in most, I will not miss this president.
I will certainly not miss his prissy, even un-American ways regarding Western and American speech about and perceptions of Islam and Islamic terrorism.

If the choice is lifting millions out of poverty or reducing CO2, poverty reduction will prevail—as it should.
But what if there is no such choice since with or without reduction the lifting isn't actually happening?
The Guardian says there are parts of the deal that are "legally binding," but no part of it can be that unless an actual treaty is ratified in the senate or the parts in question are passed into law by the usual legislative process.
Not much chance of either.

Boundless media fury at Trump, the morning after
Telephonic interviews on the major network news shows this morning, taking up his suggestion to close America to Muslims, were uniformly and bitterly hostile.
A CNN interviewer called Trump "un-American" and denounced him for “tearing at the fabric of what America is.”
All of his competitors for the GOP nomination and all the GOP leadership have denounced his suggestion.
Meanwhile, his polls are steady and his supporters applaud.
Opponents characterize his idea as unconstitutional, un-American, Nazi, fascist, communist, and difficult or impossible to finance or carry out without creating a police state – which is pretty much what conservatives have always said about gun control and Social Security and nowadays say about Medicare for all and tuition-free education at public colleges and universities.
Liberals are saying all of that about the Mexican border fence, any thought of deporting most of the illegals now in the US, and of course Trump’s suggestion.
CNN and MSNBC gave air time to Muslim immigrants to righteously denounce in halting English Trump’s plan as un-American.
And the entire classe politique is saying about Trump’s idea pretty much what Hillary and the White House said about a You Tube video in connection with the Benghazi attacks and the Muslim demonstrations in Cairo that fateful 9/11.
They are blaming American responses to the horrors of Muslim violence and hatred for the Occident and America for that very violence and hate, much as liberals declaimed that Abu Ghraib would teach savagery to Muslim fighters, waterboarding would cause them to abuse prisoners, and both would cause a rise in terrorist recruiting.
Too, they and the Muslim spokesmen to whom the major media gave air time have been denouncing Trump for encouraging "Islamophobia" and perhaps provoking a backlash of violence against Muslims – as though decades of almost daily news of Muslim violence and hate did not put Trump’s remarks quite in the shade in that regard, and as though we ought to accept a ban on free discussion among Americans of the Islamic problem and what we should do about it.
The American classe politique knows what it wants and what it doesn’t want, and right now it is trying to do to Trump what their opposite numbers in France have done to the FN.
Why favor Trump's idea?
It signals to the world our profound annoyance with violence originating in Islam or Muslim identity and our rejection of their widespread and violent hatred of us, of our values, and of pretty much everybody who isn't a Muslim.
And it limits the size of the population of Muslims actually in America at any one time, from among whom future Muslim terrorists can emerge.
Recall that all of the terrorists of the original 9/11, most of them Saudis and all of them (of course) Muslims, were here on valid visas, some as students.
I am not aware there is any other religion in the world so deeply and terrifyingly committed to hatred of the Occident in general and America in particular, and to violence against us, at this time.
But if one emerges I would certainly be willing to consider banning believers in that religion from immigration and travel here, too.
As for claims that such measures inspire Muslim hatred of us and increase the likelihood of Muslim violence, my thought is that such measures would have considerably less such impact than, say, the joyful gay porn in the Netflix production of Sense8, or the everyday American obscenity of a single gay pride parade.
And I suspect most Americans would merely laugh at the idea (I would join them) of censoring sex on Netflix because Muslims disapprove of it and it makes them hate us.
And the outrage of the American classe politique at any suggestion of banning gay pride parades for any such reason is easy to imagine.
Recall that the hero of the left, FDR, actually interned all the Japanese who could be rounded up in the continental US, citizens included.
Doing that to all US Muslims would be far too much.

Another four U.S. healthcare workers were flown back to the United States for monitoring for possible exposure to the Ebola virus, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Tuesday.
The return of the four U.S. healthcare workers brings to 16 the number of Americans who have returned to the United States from Sierra Leone since Friday, the CDC said.
That includes a healthcare worker in critical condition who is being treated for Ebola in a Maryland biocontainment unit run by the National Institutes of Health.
Most of the healthcare workers are employed by the aid group Partners in Health.
Only one of the 16 has tested positive for Ebola.
The rest are being flown to Atlanta and Maryland, which have special biocontainment units.
They are all undergoing monitoring for Ebola in self-imposed isolation as they wait out the remainder of the 21-day Ebola incubation period.

The norm for peace Democrats is war, anyway, isn't it?

What the hell's the point of going to the polls to vote for peace?
And the GOP is no better.
I voted for Nixon in '72 and though he stopped using draftees pretty quickly the war dragged on through and beyond my entire term of service in the army.
I voted for GW in 2000, partly out of disgust with Bubba for so many things (don't get me started), partly because Big Al would not back away from liberal interventionism in the Balkans, partly because Al was such an arrogant blockhead, and partly because GW promised a less interventionist, "more humble" foreign policy.
And that worked out swell, too, didn't it?

He wants the resolution to neither exclude ground troops nor contain a time limit.

Why the groveling to China?
Because he so desperately wanted those awful trade and emissions treaties?
Sure, it would be silly for America to make relations with China unnecessarily harsh by making as much flap about Tibet as America has made about Ukraine.
It has been equally silly to make quite that much flap about Ukraine.
But why go so far as to endorse the Chinese conquest?

I never believed any of them.
* The presence of U.S. forces in the Islamic world contributes to regional stability and enhances American influence.
* The Persian Gulf constitutes a vital U.S. national security interest.
* Egypt and Saudi Arabia are valued and valuable American allies.
* The interests of the United States and Israel align.
* Terrorism poses an existential threat that the United States must defeat.
I think I have disbelieved all interventionist claims about US vital interests since Vietnam, or anyway since Cap Weinberger explained at the Oxford Union that the US has vital interests at stake everywhere in the world, without exception.
