Jussie Smollett case: brothers who helped stage attack sue actor's attorney
Two brothers who say they helped Jussie Smollett stage a racist and homophobic attack against himself filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against the Empire actor’s attorneys, alleging that they repeatedly asserted publicly that the brothers carried out a real, bigoted attack on Smollett despite knowing that was not true.
A lawyer for Olabinjo Osundairo and Abimbola Osundairo filed the federal lawsuit on behalf of the brothers.
It names the well-known defense attorney Mark Geragos and his law firm as defendants.
The suit contends that even after police and prosecutors alleged that the 29 January attack in Chicago was staged and after all charges were dropped, controversially, against Smollett, Geragos and his firm continued to say publicly in widely reported statements that the brothers “led a criminally homophobic, racist and violent attack against Mr Smollett”, even though they knew that was not the case.
The lawsuit says that the lawyers’ repeated statements that Smollett told the truth all along and that the brothers were lying caused them “significant emotional distress”, made them feel unsafe and alienated them from the local community.

So Michelle handed Trump and the GOP a gift
Michelle called her buddy in the prosecutor's office and got the charges dropped.
That's exactly what happened.
The GOP and Trump are loving it.
Michelle handed the Democrats a nice stinking pile of shit to protect that sweet boy Jussie from the bad stuff he had earned for himself.
Not that he deserved actual jail time.
But he did deserve to be tried, exposed, and publicly humiliated, and sentenced mostly according as he showed personal remorse and took personal responsibility.
And what he is doing now is lying his ass off.

Looks like he's guilty and Michelle Obama pulled strings
Right leaning sources on YouTube are all over this.
This is going to get ugly.
This is going to get ugly.

Prosecutor says he thinks Jussie is guilty
on all 16 or 17 charges, for each of which he could have been sentenced to four years.
Asked why he dropped the charges, settling for the S10,000 and one day of service, he said that seemed about right and, anyway, he prefers to spend his time prosecuting violence crimes.
So why did the judge seal all the records, preventing anyone from seeing the evidence?
Why did all this happen after Michelle Obama reportedly called the prosecutor to intervene on Smollet's behalf?
I am just thunderstruck with the naked corruption of these events.

This really stinks
Jussie Smollett charges dropped, actor won't be prosecuted on charges he faked attack
So why are they keeping the ten thousand dollars in bail money?
Why did they say that forfeit and some sort of "community service" made this a "just outcome"?
Why did Michelle Obama stick her oar in?
Is this just "friends in high places"?
Because there's no word of the police resuming investigation of the alleged attack in order to find "who really did it".
Smollett was then labeled as a suspect in his own alleged assault and arrested in February.
Prosecutors and police said Smollett allegedly paid the Osundairo brothers $3,500 via a check to attack him and also gave them money to buy the supplies they would need to carry out the hoax crime.
He was released from jail after posting $10,000 of his $100,000 bond.
The Cook County State's Attorney's Office said Tuesday that after reviewing the case, Smollett's volunteer service and his willingness to turn his bond over to the city, "we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case."
His family celebrated the decision, saying in a statement that "truth has prevailed and he has been vindicated."
Rahm Emanuel and the police insist at about 3:00 pm this is not on the level, this is a whitewash, this is a coverup, Jussie got off because of privilege and influence, the state's attorney betrayed justice, and Smollet is guilty.
In a trial all the evidence would have come out.
Because of this deal all the evidence has been sealed by the judge and no one will ever see it.
From top to bottom, this is wrong.
Emanuel and the police are really angry.
One standard for the privileged, says Emanuel, and another for the rest of us.
No accountability for the powerful.
Oh, and the cost to the city of the investigation and proceedings to date is way, way more than ten thousand, said Emanuel.

Trevor Noah doesn't go there
Pretty much everybody on MSNBC talked about the Jussie Smollett revelations in the "Yes, but . . . " style.
You know, to "He faked a hate crime to get a raise" they replied "Yes, but gays and blacks really are victims of lots of hate crimes", for example.
Not Trevor Noah.
Anyway, not in the clips I have seen.
He condemned and deplored and mocked, and that was all.
OT, what sense does it make Smollett wanted the fake attack to be videoed?
The two guys he paid to attack him were dark skinned black men, but he described it as a racist and homophobic attack by whites.
And he paid them by check!

Bail set at $ 100 K
'Empire' Actor Jussie Smollett Arrested On Charges Of Filing False Police Report
He staged a fake hate crime.
His lawyers are bullshitting and they haven't got a prayer.
A spokesperson for the Chicago prosecutors gave a pretty detailed account of how it all went down, citing a ton of proof.
Hilariously, MSNBC invited Rev. Al Sharpton to comment on a fake hate crime.
Tawana Brawley, much?
Sort of like inviting Mengele to deplore anti-Semitism and the kidnapping of people to be used in horrific medical experiments.
And they invited in a black, gay guy to paper over the fraud story with about ten minutes of complaining that hate crimes happen all the time and when reported the victims are brushed off.
And then he droned on for another ten minutes, accusing the Chicago police of lying and deceptive practices and homophobia and racism and on and on.
The MSNBC newswoman just let him let fly.
Fox says it's 'considering our options' after 'Empire' star's arrest
The studio and network behind Fox's "Empire" say they are considering their options, following the arrest of television actor Jussie Smollett.
"We understand the seriousness of this matter and we respect the legal process," 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Entertainment said in a statement to CNN on Thursday.
"We are evaluating the situation and we are considering our options."
The company's statement came hours after Smollett was arrested on suspicion of filing a false report.
. . . .
Early on Wednesday, before official charges had been made against Smollett, Fox Entertainment and 20th Century Fox TV stood by Smollett saying he continued "to be a consummate professional on set" and assuring that "he is not being written out of the show."
