Not so much for Pete as against Bernie

How the Democrats handled Iowa.

The panic of leading talkers at Democratic media at the prospect of Bernie being the nominee.

The shrill insistence that he can't win disguising the desire to keep him and his agenda (not really socialist but really progressive) out of the White House, or anyway from gaining more traction in the Democratic Party.

Some You Tube commentators flatly characterize this as class war within the Democratic Party, with neolibs of the Clintonista variety, old and new, old and young, denouncing Bernie and his supporters as an ideological cult, a cult of personality, a cult of purity, loony lefties far more committed to taking over a party they despise than actually driving out Trump.

His Democratic enemies pretend pushing Bernie aside is all about beating Trump.

But are they just using the necessity of beating Trump as a smokescreen for class war?

Well, yes, of course there's that.

But for some of them, anyway, both concerns could be real.

Did Mayor Pete lie to kill a poll that would have embarrassed him?

Did he demand a recount to deny Bernie a clear win?

MSNBC more and more open to such skepticism about Bernie.

Yeah, but is he running for the Democratic nomination?

Tom Steyer.

He has not said so.

He said he is a Democrat, and he said he is running for president.

Howard Schultz said as much.

And he sounds like just another outsider populist asshole running against the system.

Schultz running as Trump

Bothsiderism gone lethal.

Nothing is being done because both parties and Trump are hung up on their ideologies and won't just cooperate to do what needs doing.

The government needs to spend less than it takes in, he said, and it sounds like he's talking about a balanced budget amendment.

Asked why we are spending so much more than we take in he did not give the true answer, that the Republicans passed a huge tax cut for corporations and the rich though they knew it would add trillions to the deficit.

Not a word about that, oh no.

He again blamed both sides and their stubborn refusal to cooperate to give America what it needs.

Velshi was urging the problem is rich people don't want to pay taxes and they control the Republican Party, but Schultz never stopped for a breath and talked right over him, told him flat out he was wrong.

He was walking all over both Velshi and Ruhle.

And, yes, he did play the "I'm a self-made billionaire and I know how to create jobs, buddy" card.

He knows perfectly well that he's running as a splitter and that he will likely put the Duce back in the White House.

That's why he's not running for the Democratic or Republican nomination.

And that will be just fine for him and the other billionaires freaked by the big tax hikes for them that are pretty much in the cards if the Democrats win.

Why would anyone be sucker enough to believe him?

And has anybody even asked him whether he would at least reverse the Trump tax cuts for corporations and the rich?

Has anybody pointedly remarked to him that the huge deficit he of course is wringing his hands about is mostly a production of Republican tax-cutting?

His proposed cures so far are to cut the hell out of the earned benefits Social Security and Medicare, as well as Medicaid.

And as this article points out, candidate Trump also urged that the rich, including himself, pay more.

And then gleefully signed the obscene Republican tax cut.

Trump tweets a challenge.

Howard Schultz doesn’t have the “guts” to run for President! 

Watched him on @60Minutes last night and I agree with him that he is not the “smartest person.” 

Besides, America already has that! I only hope that Starbucks is still paying me their rent in Trump Tower!

So far, Schultz's patter is the same as Trump's was, as Perot's was, as Blumberg's has been.

He's going to save us from the failed political parties and useless professional politicians and finally do what Americans know needs to be done.

And it turns out to be what the Republicans say it is, pretty much.

Idiot voters eat this stuff up.

The media are just loving this.

Could it be that Dems who say he scares them are trying to fool the Republicans into not trying to stop him splitting the right?

If he went into the GOP primaries against Bozo, he might win.

Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz: 'I am seriously thinking of running for President'

Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said on Sunday he is seriously considering running for president as a "centrist independent" in 2020.

"We're living at a most fragile time," Schultz told CBS's Scott Pelley in a "60 Minutes" interview that aired on Sunday. 

"Not only the fact that this President is not qualified to be the president, but the fact that both parties are consistently not doing what's necessary on behalf of the American people and are engaged every single day in revenge politics."

When asked if he is worried about siphoning votes away from Democrats, Schultz told CBS, "I want to see the American people win. I want to see America win. 

"I don't care if you're a Democrat, Independent, Libertarian, Republican. 

"Bring me your ideas. And I will be an independent person who will embrace those ideas because I am not, in any way, in bed with a party."

Schultz said he sees "extremes" in both the Republican and Democratic political parties.

"Every American deserves the right to have access to quality health care. 

"But what the Democrats are proposing is something that is as false as the wall. 

"And that is free health care for all, which the country cannot afford," Schultz said.

England. Canada. Many countries can afford it.

But not America.

Guess we're not Number One, eh?
