CNN is pointing out that's part of the difference between the factual, scripted Trump and the unscripted, normal, full of shit Trump.
CNN's Gupta is saying right now that we've seen progress on vaccines in six months that normally takes three or four years, backing up the scripted president's claim of unprecedented speed in developing a vaccine.
Still, Trump did emphasize accurately that deaths are down and the virus' kill rate is way down and the danger of hospitalization and death falls almost entirely on the old and those with comorbidities.
The virus is much less tough on just about everybody else.

But even the docs, including Fauci, did not balk at Pence's happy-talk.
Fauci was clear but gentle, even rather sweet-talking the young idiots blowing off social distancing and masks.
And very gently and politely attributed our current disaster to them and to states re-opening too far and too soon, against the rules provided by the White House documents.

Also in response to a question from Romney, Fauci was firm that we are more likely than not to have a vaccine in a year or two.
Nobody has said or even suggested we or anyone can remain in lockdown for that great a period.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and member of the White House's coronavirus task force, told CNN he will begin a "modified quarantine" after making a "low risk" contact with the White House staffer who tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The "low risk" assessment means he was not in close proximity to the person who tested positive during the time when that person was known to be positive for the virus.
He is not doing a full quarantine like Dr. Stephen Hahn, the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration.
Hahn came into contact with an individual who tested positive for coronavirus, an FDA official confirmed to CNN on Friday.
Dr. Robert Redfield, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will self-quarantine for two weeks after he was exposed to a person at the White House who tested positive for Covid-19, a CDC spokesperson confirmed to CNN.

Trump to shut down Coronavirus Task Force tomorrow, says MSNBC
Less flak than just firing Fauci would cost and we knew they would soon do this, anyway.
We will never see more help from Trump.
He's dumping it all on the governors and the ensuing disaster will be their fault, according to him and Fox and the entire Republican chorus.
He will keep Birx and Fauci on ice, very much in the background where they will neither be seen nor heard every day by anywhere near as many Americans, publicly contradicting our fearless leader.
They would do the country much more good dropping out of the government and showing up with lots of other public health authorities for a daily national briefing at Johns Hopkins or some other private venue, perhaps hosted by CNN, MSNBC, the Times, WAPO, the Journal, and others.
Will his next arena rally be within one or as much as two weeks?
By the way, today's numbers now show more than 70,000 American Covid-19 dead.
By refusing to ensure adequate testing and by disbanding the task force and by hiding Fauci and Birx he is denying ammunition to those whose task will be to tell America about the harm done by the Idiot Boy's insisting on rolling back the lockdown, in his heart and probably in reality, for good and all.

Trump wasted lots of money and resources to please a big money donor, says Steve M.

Nah. He did it because he's genuinely and honestly stupid.
About which see his latest brilliant medical suggestion, injecting disinfectant into patients' lungs.
I warned weeks ago that Fauci and Birx should have publicly denounced the notion that valuable research time and resources should be wasted on medically baseless - not to mention blatantly stupid - suggestions, and they did not.
I also warned they should have denounced the idea of forcing or even allowing doctors to use anything as a curative therapy not proven according to normal protocols and criteria of medical science to be safe and useful, and they did not.
So Trump ordered researchers to waste time and money on researching the curative value of hydroxychloroquine, which has turned out to be both useless and harmful for Coronavirus patients.
And he ordered that doctors actually use that drug therapeutically in such cases, which some actually did despite their Hippocratic Oath on some patients.
Just maybe it's time for Fauci and Birx to grow a pair and tell Boobie to his face that his ideas are childish and silly and he should just stop talking about serious matters to actual adults.
Update, MSNBC Dr. Kavita Patel agrees Birx should have boldly and frankly shut down the nonsense right then and there, as it came out of the president's mouth.
She says the medical profession is furious resources have been wasted and are still being wasted proving Trump's crackpot remedies are useless and even harmful.
They are not happy Fauci and Birx have not be much braver in resisting his idiocies, as they happen, in public.
The two should be as brave and principled as Dr. Bright, who refused to indulge the Duce's harmful nonsense even at the cost of his job.

"I believe this transfer was in response to my insistence that the government invest the billions of dollars allocated by Congress to address the Covid-19 pandemic into safe and scientifically vetted solutions, and not in drugs, vaccines and other technologies that lack scientific merit," Bright said in a lengthy statement issued Wednesday.
"I am speaking out because to combat this deadly virus, science -- not politics or cronyism -- has to lead the way."

A warning from AG Barr of an impending constitutional clash?
If Bozo tells the states to knock off the lockdowns in, say, mid-May and they refuse, what happens?

She evidently agrees with the claim of those who insist the lockdown is right now unconstitutional and has been from the start because the individual rights in question cannot be limited for the sake of public health.
And it seems noteworthy that the Duce himself, who has repeatedly, impatiently, and angrily denounced the lockdown as "worse than the disease", does not seem to share that view, either.
But the AG does seem to be signalling readiness to argue the need has passed and so continuing the lockdown is unconstitutional in court when Trump wants him to.
Interesting how far the parties have switched sides on the need for government imposed social discipline for the sake of public health since the time when Obama had to cope with Ebola and the Republicans were demanding more intrusive methods in the face of O's delicacy.
The Duce clearly wants his Coronavirus economics committee to run the rollback of the lockdown on a timetable of his choice - a choice incorporating their views as well as those of the public health gurus under Fauci and Birx.
Suppose his Coronavirus economics committee starts issuing rollback instructions to commence May 1 and the states tell them and Bozo to pound sand.
Will Barr go to the courts to attack the continuation of the lockdown as unnecessary and so a violation of the Bill of Rights, relying on the incorporation doctrine so often denounced by right wingers eager for a return of the "constitution in exile"?
Will Democratic state governments defend the need for a slower rollback as a legitimate limit to the individual rights in question, all which have always been understood to allow exceptions?
Will Barr insist that the duty of the president to enforce the constitution against the states both means his judgement must prevail over theirs as regards the timing of the rollback and legitimates the authority of his economic committee to control it in as much detail as they say they need?
Cuomo said today New York is developing it's own rollback plan.
Will the governors of surrounding states who followed New York's lead on the lockdown opt again to follow Cuomo's lead on the rollback?
Bozo refused responsibility (blame) for controlling or coordination the public health response to the virus, forcing the states to impose, define, and control the lockdowns.
Now he's getting ready to demand the authority (credit) for removing the lockdowns.
Behavior completely true to his opportunist and narcissist and even crooked presidency.
Cuomo on Pathways Nursing and Rehab lending the state 35 ventilators that have now been returned: "Thank you for your incredible generosity" and "Love conquers all".

Well, you know, generally speaking there are occasions where liberties have to be restricted during certain emergencies such as war or, in this case, a potentially devastating pandemic but they have to be balanced.
Whatever steps you take have to be balanced against the civil liberties of the American people and it cannot be used as an excuse for broad deprivations of liberty.
So as things proceed, you know we're going to be interested in both what the federal government is imposing and also making sure that that's justified but also what the states do.
The states have very broad well as you know what we call police powers they have very broad powers that the federal government doesn't have to regulate the lives of their citizens as long as they don't violate the Constitution.
So we'll be keeping a careful, a careful eye on that.But she wanted a more explicit commitment, so she continued with specific reference to events in New York.

Getting ready to "send America back to work"
After claiming that Dr. Fauci gave Jonathan Karl a thumbs-up during the White House briefing, Limbaugh got straight to the point:

The 70-year-old White House trade adviser was first recruited by Trump because he wrote a string of books about the Chinese strategic threat – one called Death by China – despite having spent almost no time in the country and having no grasp of the language.
Five of Navarro’s books cited a China hand with a particularly pithy turn of phrase called Ron Vara, who turned out not to exist.
The name is an anagram of Navarro and the imaginary expert operated as an alter ego, confirming the author’s views.
Notably,
Navarro made headlines in the past week by challenging Dr Anthony Fauci – the nation’s leading immunologist and the public face of the US scientific community’s race to contain Covid-19 – in a showdown in the White House situation room over the merits of an experimental drug.

In an opinion piece published Wednesday night titled "Trump’s Wasted Briefings," the Journal's editorial board bemoaned that the daily press conferences ostensibly intended to focus on the latest news surrounding the coronavirus had become "more about the many feuds of Donald J. Trump."
The editorial board wrote that Trump's frequent attacks on the press, governors and his critics during the briefing were "off-key" given the severity of the pandemic that has killed thousands of people in the U.S.
The board urged Trump to cede center stage at the briefings to Vice President Pence and top health officials, who have regularly appeared at the briefings but have primarily waited to provide updates until the president delivers his own remarks.
The Hill is burying the truth: WSJ told him outright to stop attending the daily briefing altogether as he contributes nothing of value an his presence interferes with and distracts from the serious matters being told to Americans by Pence and the medicos.
Much more likely Trump will sideline Fauci and the public health experts.
The White House has already announced the creation of a second Coronavirus crisis committee to focus on the economy, a committee on which the medicos will not serve.
Fast forward a week or a month and the daily Coronavirus briefing will feature Trump and that new committee and the medicos and their committee will not be seen.
Just in time for the phaseout of lockdown and the national return to work.
