Michael Dibdin, perhaps his best book.
Of the several of his I have read so far this is the most like a real policier.
Often his cop, Aurelio Zen, just blunders around - interestingly - until the case solves itself.
Not this time.
And yet, he still doesn't get it right.
Tiresome, really.
