This was reported the other day as a loon killing people over a parking spot, not unlike the stories we see every winter about crackpot A shooting brave fool B for parking in a spot from which he, A, spent hours shoveling snow.

But this time the victims were Muslims so the vultures saw their chance.

They want to make Craig Stephen Hicks, a white atheist gun owner, into the next George Zimmerman, of whom, not coincidentally I suppose, TP displays a picture above this story with a caption, "Why George Zimmerman keeps getting away with it."

They began digging into his past, essentially doing quick and dirty "oppo research," looking for the least thing they could use as a pretext for screaming about racism, Islamophobia, and gun-nut-hood.

So far the best they have is that the fellow is an atheist, a fan of Richard Dawkins and some other New Atheists, and these last as a group have long since been categorized as hate-mongering Islamophobes.

Good enough?

Oh, hell yes.

He is already being described as "vehemently anti-religion."

You could say the same of Bill Maher with more and better evidence to back you up.

But BM hasn't shot anyone over a parking spot.

If he's ever tempted to he'd better make sure first his intended victim isn't a Muslim.
