Is Ross Douthat Kidding?
For much of today’s left, liberals included, a good part of the point of immigration is to swamp white power in the US and in Europe, where it is also to swamp coherently European culture, power, and influence by introducing a Muslim fifth column.
Both there and here, this portion of the left favors policies connected with social benefits that subsidize and encourage minority fecundity while the ready availability of “reproductive health” measures cuts further into white fertility rates.
Once in a while, somebody white utters a cry of alarm.
And then he is buried under an avalanche of accusations of racism and every effort is made to get the guy fired, pour encourager les autres; that is, to stifle even the faintest beginning of a public discussion of the matter.
And that’s what’s happening here.
Except that Amato is totally misunderstanding Doubthat’s point, confounding it with that of Josh Gibson.
Gibson was expressing exactly that forbidden white alarm.
But Doubthat’s concern was population growth in the US and not what component (if any) of that growth is white, per se.
Read his piece.
It’s a bum rap.
