Few, if any, will speak ill of the recently deceased.
But you have to if you are to tell the truth about this man.
He was an immensely popular and successful advocate of the worst, most bigoted, and most stubbornly obtuse version of Christianity now extant in America, fundamentalism, aka Evangelicalism.
He was a determined enemy of atheism, agnosticism, liberal religion, secularism, equality for women, gay rights, and the continuing liberal deconstruction of the long-standing establishment of religion in our country manifest for many decades in the rigorous legal enforcement of Christian sexual morality.
