MSNBC says they are pretty frank about why.
The president cannot talk without babbling and blurting, and he can't babble and blurt without lying.
And, under oath or not, lying to the FBI - and there would be FBI at the interview - is perjury.
They just don't trust their client, who is a pathological liar, to manage to get through an interview without committing felonies.
