Next, gay rights activists will be burning hanged Jesus manikins in their front yard.
They'd burn crosses but that move is taken.
The ACLU used to defend the freedom of Nazis to march with their hate signs through Jewish neighborhoods.
They also defended people refusing to testify before Congress about other people being members of the Communist Party by appealing to alleged First Amendment freedom of association rights.
They defended Jehovah's Witnesses right to refuse to say the Pledge or sing the National Anthem as a First Amendment issue involving free speech, religious liberty, and freedom of association.
They have defended the right of pretty much anybody to refuse the draft and reject mandatory service in the military on First Amendment, freedom of religion grounds.
Can't refuse to sell a wedding bouquet, though.
