The Big Chill

Marie LePen will be tried and likely convicted and perhaps jailed,  or simply banned from politics.

Everywhere in Europe,  anti-nationalists and pro-immigrationists have criminalized the speech, beliefs, and opinions of their opponents.

Rather than tolerate the views they hate, and rather than risk their rise to lawful and democratic power through lawful and democratic means they deny their opponents the right to speak,  be heard,  and participate  peacefully and lawfully in the politics and governments of their countries.

As we all know, democracy has crucial venting and legitimating functions that operate precisely through free speech and untrammeled popular participation.

Without these, governments pay a serious price in popular contempt, rejection of authority,  unrest, and even violent opposition.

But today's European governments seem more afraid of the Muslim immigrants than of their own people, who have for decades resisted the massive immigration deliberately forced upon them by their rulers.

There will be more Norways.

But the elites will have their way, no matter how far they have to openly betray democracy and their peoples to do it.
