Apparently, I have so offended them that they have banned me!
Just when I was going to comment on this, telling the author it's complete balderdash based entirely on a ludicrous, willfully bizarre reading of what Harkin actually said.
Another Democratic Senator Admits Obamacare Was a Mistake
Harkin says they should have gone for single payor (universal Medicare) or at least kept the public option.
That's all.
No doubt he thought and said just that at the time, too.
Not exactly enough to justify the headline, "Another Democratic Senator Admits Obamacare Was a Mistake."
And a pretty far cry from a government takeover of the entire health care system modeled after the VA.
Guy Benson, the writer, needs an enema.
My own chief problem with universal Medicare, by the way, was and is that Medicare pretty much sucks, leaving very large costs to the insured in the forms of premiums, copays, and coinsurances.
Very large.
Nobody but the rich who don't actually need insurance at all can get by with just Medicare.
Anyone else on Medicare needs either a good supplement for all that, for dental, and for glasses or to sign up in an Advantage Plan - a Medicare HMO.
And that too is far from cheap.
If you are poor enough you can, in some states, get more help in the form of Medicaid.
