Liberals used to cite suppression of Suttee as a positive example of cultural imperialism, as well as the global spread of republicanism and parliamentary institutions, and I concur.
In like manner, I approve Democrats and the Occident standing up for women's rights, gay rights, sexual liberation, children's rights, secularism, science, and religious tolerance, though we certainly don't need to be fighting wars over such things.
