The 'reality-based' left captured perfectly in one story in The Guardian

Chelsea Manning spends sixth Christmas in prison with no end in sight

That is, of course, Bradley Manning, and the end will come in roughly thirty years, and possibly earlier with good behavior and parole.

This is their reality.
