Sandra Bland 'would be alive if she were a white woman', Bernie Sanders says
Sandra Bland, who was found hanged in her cell at a Texas county jail last summer, would not have died had she been white, senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont said after a grand jury declined to indict anyone in connection with her death.
“Sandra Bland should not have died while in police custody”, the Democratic presidential candidate said in a statement responding to the grand jury decision.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that she, like too many African Americans who die in police custody, would be alive today if she were a white woman."
Really?
No doubt?
So prove it.
We don't convict on the certainty of a newspaper reader.
Not yet, anyway.
