Trump, the enfant terrible of this election

Trup calls for 'complete shutdown' on Muslims entering US

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called Monday for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States,” touching off an outraged response from his rivals for the nomination and Muslim groups.

. . . .

“Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life,” Trump said in a statement.

Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told the Associated Press that Trump's proposed ban would apply to "everybody," including Muslims seeking immigration visas as well as tourists seeking to enter the country.

For ratcheting up his wild man game, his GOP competitors have denounced him and so has Hillary.

Recall that Trump has already urged that we attack not only terrorist Jihaders but "their families."

The constitution forbids any religious test for office and in the First Amendment forbids congress from establishing religion or prohibiting its free exercise.

Not another word about religion and not a word about immigration or foreigners traveling here or sojourning can be found in that document.

So ABC TV tonight said its lawyers say restrictions on immigration based on religion are unconstitutional.

Of course they do.

Didn't I say it would become the PC line that immigration cannot screen according to criteria liberal judges have branded "suspect," although it has certainly done so in most of our national past?

Actually, I thought we should have closed the gates to all new Muslims right after 9/11, and cancelled the visas of people already here, allowing citizens and resident aliens only to stay.

Muslims, leftists, and the usual anti-American and disloyal American suspects would naturally have blamed us and screamed at us for racism and religious bigotry, but I didn't care and thought the proper line to take was that it was up to them to convince us that they weren't the enemy.

Instead, the PC crowd won and beat America into accepting that the burden was and is on us to convince them that we aren't the enemy.

How's that for blame shifting and blaming the victim?

So closing the door was too un-PC for the American leadership to even seriously consider, or maybe they really didn't worry as much about terrorism as they claimed they did, truth be known.

We always have to wonder whether the boys at the top are really half as unnerved as they claim to be.

And, hell, they couldn't even set up TSA passenger frisking focused on Muslims; PC bullshit and race politics made it impossible.

And so they gave us GW inviting American Muslim clergy to the White House, telling us Islam is the Religion of Peace and apologizing to the Muslims of the world for any inconvenience.

And then we quite unnecessarily and unhelpfully wrecked two countries right quick, Afghanistan and Iraq.

That, I guess, was PC-OK.

Oh, well. Better late than never?

If closing the door means we aren't going to stupidly invade any more countries, that's actually a good thing, though it surely won't be acceptable to the American left or any of the real professionals of the classe politique in any case.

Can't wait to see what Bill Maher has to say.

He has for years called attention to the dangers of Muslim immigration to Europe.
