1 Corinthians

NLT

Chapter 10.

Paul seems to be a literalist about the Exodus, the parting of the Red Sea, and Moses.

Christians cannot be faithful to the religion of Jesus, the apostles, or the earliest Christians.

All of them thought at least some of the people alive during Jesus' ministry would live to see the end times.

We know none did, as has every Christian since, say, 150 AD.

So Christians since that time have been unfaithful to the text and the clear teaching of Jesus and the rest, refusing to admit that that was their belief and is what they teach in the New Testament.

After all, if they - all of them - were wrong about that  . . . .

Update, 10/1/16, 2355 hrs,

In this chapter, Paul again addresses the question whether Christians can eat food offered to idols.

Saying the pagan idols represent not gods but demons, he writes

V. 21 You cannot drink from the cup of the Lord and from the cup of demons, too. You cannot eat at the Lord's table and at the table of demons, too.

He continues to lean heavily on stumbling block for others arguments.
