A Sanders supporter who is an Elector for Washington State says Hillary is so corrupt and unendurable that if she wins his state he will nevertheless not vote for her in the Electoral College.
The elector from Washington state says Clinton is a “criminal” who hasn’t done enough on Native American issues
An Electoral College voter from Washington state told the Associated Press on Friday that he would not vote for Hillary Clinton under any circumstances, even if, as is firmly expected, Clinton wins his state’s popular vote.
The elector, Robert Satiacum, is a Native American who supported Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the Democratic Primary and told the AP that Clinton is a “criminal” who hasn’t done enough on Native American issues.
“She will not get my vote. Period,” Satiacum said in a phone interview with the news service.
For people secretly wishing the Electoral College would save us from Trump, but who dread the political consequences of such an egregious sabotage of democracy, it would be especially galling for Hillary to lose to Il Duce because of a faithless elector.
It is interesting that this story in Huffpo concedes the constitutional authority of an Elector to vote for anyone he wants who meets the constitutional requirements for the office.
It is also interesting that the story all the same does not challenge the constitutional right of the state of Washington to fine faithless electors $1,000.00 for their faithlessness.
