The Kavanaugh affair made it pretty clear.
The Republican rule is that absent proof sufficient for a conviction in court the man has to get the benefit of the doubt and cannot be denied, solely on account of the cloud he is under, even so great a plum as a seat on the Supreme Court.
The Democrats have been supporting the rule that the woman must be believed in such a case, and the cloud is sufficient grounds to deny the fellow any place of honor in government at all.
They should not walk away from that now.
So what happens if Northam resigns and Fairfax resigns?
