26 Gun murders (equiv. 130) in England vs. *11,004* in US Annually
Note that gun controllers talk of "civilized countries" but focus on the British Isles, which are not typical even of Western Europe as regards armed police (almost universal on the continent) or armed civilians.
Much less are they typical of the general run of "civilized countries," compared to which the murder rate in the US in reality looks unexceptional.
But of course then they don't want to compare murder rates, but gun murder rates, and generally as between the US and countries where people don't own guns.
Take a look.
List of countries by intentional homicide rate
Though murder rates even on the continent are lower than in the US, as noted.
US rate: 4.88 per 100,000.
Western Europe:
France: 1.58
Germany: 0.85
UK: 0.92
Spain: 0.66
Other "civilized countries":
Russia: 11.31
Ukraine: 4.36
Lithuania: 5.98
In Latin America generally the rate is higher than in the US.
In Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America it is much higher.
Perhaps they are not civilized, after all?
It has been pointed out that if only killings by whites are considered, relative to the white population as a whole, our murder rate is about the same as it is among those pacific continental European countries.
And that despite the fact that killing sprees like the one in Vegas (so rare as to have almost no bearing on the US murder rate) are considerably more popular among white killers than others.
The US figures are driven up not by white mass shooters but by the killings by blacks, overwhelmingly of blacks.
The availability of guns in America is just not the relevant variable.
But this is crimethink.
None so blind . . . .
