Should Roy Moore sue CNN and MSNBC? Can he?

He is repeatedly accused by them of child molestation, an equivocal term most commonly used by non-lawyers  as a synonym for pedophilia - of which he is not accused - and less commonly in a specifically legal sense to mean sexual engagement with any minor, though sexual activity involving an adult and a minor above the age of consent is not per se criminal.

Moore has been publicly accused of a sexual encounter with a 14 year old, by the alleged victim, at a time and place at which the age of consent was 16, not apparently involving any form of physical coercion or overt intimidation.

He has been accused of no sexual activity with anyone younger than that, though also of habitual sexual pursuit of high school girls in their upper teens.

All the same, the left wing outrage machines on CNN and MSNBC at every opportunity claim he is an accused child molester just because to most of us that means sexual abuse of prepubescent children.
