Don't move to Florida because heat, hurricanes, tornadoes, bugs, and alligators.
Don't move to the Dakotas because hot summers, horrible winters, and the utter emptiness of the place.
Don't move to Puerto Rico because this tropical island combines climate horrors worse than Florida with horrors of isolation from civilization even worse than those of the Dakotas.
They're still getting over last year's hurricanes.
And don't move to Portland. Or Seattle. Or maybe Saint Louis.
After federal drawdown, Portland protesters rally and mayor decries violence: ‘You are attempting to commit murder’
Portland's nightly protests turned violent again even after the city's mayor pleaded for demonstrators to stay off the streets and a police officer hit by a rock early Friday suffered what was described as a serious injury.
The protesters who came out Thursday night clashed with officers near a police precinct station and also used metal bars to disable police vehicles, police said in a statement.
. . . .
Tear gas was used by Portland police on protesters Wednesday for the first time since the U.S. agents left the city. On Thursday, Mayor Ted Wheeler warned the protesters clashing with police that “you are not demonstrating, you are attempting to commit murder.”
It was reported elsewhere the "protesters" had trapped people in a building and then used accelerant to try to burn the building down. The mayor was addressing that incident.
Reportedly, the rioters are primarily if not quite only white anarchists who have, for one thing, heaped Bibles in a street and burned them.
Which is not to absolve BLM and it supporters, black or otherwise, of all craziness, ideological or behavioral.
He predicted that there would be “more attacks on public buildings” and the protests then turned violent again Thursday night, with officers lobbing smoke canisters to try to break up the demonstrations.
