O'Hara is an artist of prose as good as or better than Fitzgerald or Hemingway - and he makes Hemingway seem like a gimmick.
He is sexually franker than either, and once he gets his story going, it moves.
And he gets it going on page one.
As good as Appointment in Samarra.
Really.
