The other new Cold War

Cold War 2 is our renewed non-violent conflict with Russia and China.

But the other new Cold War is the culture war of the West vs the anti-West.

The secularist, sexually revolutionized, soggily Christian or post-Christian, democratic, capitalist West.

Versus not the rest but the anti-Western rest, the seriously anti-secularist, seriously sexually counter-revolutionary rest.

Mostly and most spectacularly, but not only, the world of Islam.

By the way, imagine Churchill speechifying to his country in 1940 that his fight was not against Germany and not even against Nazism, both of which had been hijacked by racist, pan-German, anti-Semitic, Aryanist, fascist madmen.

The real Nazism, Nazism shorn of all those things, was perfectly OK and deserving of as much respect as any other.

And it was unfair and indeed bigoted to insist on reading Mein Kampf, Hitler's speeches, or even the Volkische Beobachter so unfavorably.

That way, you were playing into the hands of warmongers and extremists.

After all, there are a lot of Nazis and a lot of Germans.

We don't want to make enemies of them all, do we?

Probably, the real problems were poverty, hopelessness, lack of opportunity, and the meaninglessness of life under bourgeois capitalism.

Or perhaps the sexual permissiveness of the Weimar Republic.

But Nazism?

Oh, no.
