Two reminders in two days of my one and only visit to the USA. Your post above and some friends yesterday who departed for a New England holiday. We, too, went to new England in the Autumn and were enchanted. Not just the trees but Boston (such a near-European looking city), the small townships and villages, the elegant churches down whose steps one expected to see Gary Cooper, dressed in black, descending with bible in one hand and six-shooter on hip, and above all the people, so polite, so pleasant. I hear constantly of the worst of America but I remember the best of it, too!

ReplyDeleteI used to get into Boston once in a while when I was a student at HC. Beautiful city. Poor climate.
