A personal editorial. Skip the gun control, continue the modest GWOT, leave the Russians alone

With gun violence at a 50 year low and the murder rate half its all time high, both declining during decades when restrictions of gun rights have been constantly eroded, there just isn't any need for more gun control.

JG is right, and The New York Times is full of shit.

And as for terrorists, because of their targets (the civilian population as a whole, indiscriminately), their body counts, and their aspirations for far more damaging slaughter, Muslim terrorists are a considerably greater threat than the only home-grown American and Christian terrorists I know of, who are not many in any case and enjoy little support among the general population, anti-abortionists targeting abortion facilities and providers as well, sometimes, as persons seeking abortions.

Hence Hillary's PC response, reported in The Guardian, to Jerry Falwell Jr.'s remarks at Liberty University - themselves at worst silly - is flat out annoying.

Actually, worse than annoying, this sort of vicious and unscrupulous lie makes me regret all the more deeply that the Republican nominee this year will be either Donald Trump or a genuine movement conservative.

The school president, Jerry Falwell Jr, was speaking to students at Liberty University in Virginia after the FBI announced it was investigating the lethal attack in San Bernardino, California, as a terrorist incident.

“Let’s teach them a lesson if they ever show up here,” Falwell said.

“I’ve always thought if more good people had concealed carry permits, then we could end those Muslims before they walked in.”

It was difficult to make out his final statements in a videotape of the remarks.

Clinton told ABC News on Sunday that Falwell was aiding Islamic State militants with such comments.

“This is the kind of deplorable – not only hateful response to a legitimate security issue, but it is giving aid and comfort to Isis and other radical jihadists,” she said.

And this lie reminded everyone, no doubt, of the lies she and O told about Benghazi and Muslim celebratory demonstrations in Cairo and elsewhere on the anniversary of 9/11, which she and he mendaciously explained as provoked by an insignificant American You Tube video critical of Muhammad.

All the same, putting more American boots on the ground anywhere at all in battle against Jihaders does not seem necessary, and though the right keeps trying to force us into it there is no need to magnify the problem into anything remotely approaching the scale of the long-over global conflict with Communism that itself was largely gratuitous.

And we really ought to call a halt to the new cold war both the US major political parties seem to want, as well as silly interventions in the Muslim world aimed at getting rid of anti-Jihader dictators out of a Wilsonian penchant for democracy that empowers our enemies the Jihaders or their ideological enablers, Muslim fundamentalists.
