Fascinating but wrong

Furet confuses nationalism, political loyalty to one's ethnic group and the conviction that there should be a state comprising all and only persons of that group, with patriotism, loyalty to the state, the politically sovereign entity, to which one belongs.

And he relies crucially on utter fuzziness and hopeless equivocation on "equality" in his views on modernity, capitalism, democracy, socialism, and communism.
