What if Trump and his minions flagrantly violate the law on the Mexican border?

He will get away with it because (a) the Justice Department insists without a shred of justification that a sitting president cannot be indicted and, under Barr, it belongs to the Duce, anyway and (b) the Republican senate will not convict if he is impeached, no matter what he does.

All their years of posturing as the party of the constitution, of legality, of law and order, of the rule of law are now exposed as years of lying.

Nothing matters to the Republicans but staying in power and getting their way.

Not the rule of law, not separation of powers, not checks and balances, not the constitution itself.

And absolutely, absolutely, absolutely not the utterly flouted and now long ignored rules of congressional civility and bipartisanship.

It's just all about getting their way by whatever means necessary.

And the Democratic Party is far too candy-assed to fight back effectively, and will still be too candy-assed after a big win in 2020, if there is one.

He will pardon his minions as soon as the need arises, and on his way out of the White House if not before.

He will also pardon himself.

They will all get away clean because the Republican Supremes will let all that stand.
