No, no, no

Trump and abortion, again.

Feminists have abortion wrong

Lots of people immediately said what Camille says here.

Trump’s clumsy performance was a fiasco, exposing in his fiat that women should face “some sort of punishment” for illegal abortions how little he had thought about one of the major issues in American public life over the past 40 years.

A complete lie, an utter slander.

Of course, he may never once have thought about the matter in the last 40 years, but that position is not in the slightest degree evidence of such thoughtlessness.

It is an entirely coherent position and could easily be the actual view of many people.

In fact, it is my view.

If the law is, as I would prefer, that some abortions are actually forbidden and a woman has a forbidden abortion both she and the provider should be punished.

She is in the position of a woman who pays a professional to murder her husband.

Both she and the pro should be punished.

Trump's quick takebacks in the face of the storm of criticism he provoked don't prove he never gave it any thought or that it isn't a genuine and firmly held position.

They only prove his days of defying PC with unbowed candor are long gone.

And pretty much nothing of what Camille ascribes to "the liberal credo" appeals to me at all.

Liberals today are not what progressives were yesterday.
