"We're America, Bitch"
Goldberg got trolled, but OK.
That's what this White House does.
And this president.
As Donald Trump prepares (without really preparing) for his upcoming, historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg asked members of the president’s administration to sum up his foreign policy “doctrine.”
“People criticize [Trump] for being opposed to everything Obama did, but we’re justified in canceling out his policies,” a friend of Trump’s told Goldberg, “There’s the Obama Doctrine, and the ‘Fuck Obama’ Doctrine. We’re the ‘Fuck Obama’ Doctrine.”
A senior White House official with direct access to the president offered an even more succinct description of Trump’s foreign policy worldview.
“There’s definitely a Trump Doctrine,” that official argued. “The Trump Doctrine is, ‘We’re America, Bitch.’ That’s the Trump Doctrine.”
“Obama apologized to everyone for everything,” the official said. “He felt bad about everything,” wheres [sic] Trump “doesn’t feel like he has to apologize for anything America does.”
. . . .
A senior administration official likewise suggested Trump’s “No Friends, No Enemies” approach, telling Goldberg the president doesn’t see any daylight between America’s historic allies and adversaries.
“We have to explain to him that countries that have worked with us together in the past expect a level of loyalty from us, but he doesn’t believe that this should factor into the equation,” the official told Goldberg.
