Pro-Brexit folks object to another plebiscite that holding one would be undemocratic and a betrayal of the voters who already told us what they want.
The parliamentary process for a bill raising the tax on soft drinks by a nickel would involve much more than a single, straight up vote, yes or no.
Three readings, committees, amendments, lots of stuff taking lots of time.
To raise a tax by a nickel.
But to decide so momentous a move as leaving the EU just one straight majority yes or no plebiscite - no committees, no research, no opportunities for amendment, no time to reconsider and change one's mind - that's the ticket?
A second confirmatory vote would betray democracy, would it?
