Believing is seeing.

People see what they believe.

What they expect to see.

When white people misidentify criminals as black they are called racists.

And so?

Houston police arrest two black suspects in shooting of 7 year old black girl

According to Lee Merritt, the family's attorney,

“The family is still really grateful that it seems law enforcement has identified the shooter,” Merritt said.

“However, all the information up until yesterday has been that the shooter was an older white male in a red truck, that came from not only one of the victims, 15-year-old Alexis, but from an eyewitness nearby.”

He added, “We had at least four independent witnesses who believed the shooter in this situation was a white male .

The officials have repeatedly said the attackers mistook the identity of the victim.

That indicates they meant to shoot some other child.

But maybe the police actually mean the shooters mistook the car they meant to be shooting into.

In court it was revealed they learned they'd shot into the wrong car by watching the news

Which does not suggest they meant to shoot some other child, though of course it remains possible.
