Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said people, under the green phase, must continue to wear masks, maintain social distancing and take precautions to prevent a resurgence of COVID-19 as the county transitions.
“This is a good thing for us to be able to do with businesses allowed to open — hair salons, restaurants, nail salons and gyms with all the hardworking people who have been disadvantaged over the last couple of months,” he said,
Restaurants, however, will be limited to 50% of their normal capacity while appointments will be necessary for patrons of salons and gyms to prevent gatherings in waiting rooms or locker rooms.
Events, meanwhile, will be restricted to no more than 250 people.
But Mr. Fitzgerald said that indoor events will pose a higher risk of spreading the virus than outdoor events.
A decision will be made next week about reopening the four county swimming pools, given concerns about locker rooms, concession stands and close contact of people in the pools themselves.
