Peter Navarro presents the White House's claim: "Chicoms" released the virus to prevent Trump's reelection.

Zakariah is giving him air time to make a very articulate statement of key elements of the White House's "Chinese Virus" line.

Navarro is insisting that "the Red Chinese Communists" let this loose on the world in an attempt to get Trump out of the White House, deliberately and perhaps capitalizing on an accident resulting from criminal negligence and gross incompetence.

All that's missing is any mention of Joe Biden.

He complained the bats in that Wuhan city wet market were the wrong kind of bats for the pandemic to have somehow originated there, and that there were no bats of the right kind to carry the virus in the Hubei province at the time except possibly some in the hands of "the notorious 'Bat Lady'" of Wuhan.

This researcher, Shi Zhengli, who has done a lot of work on coronaviruses and bats since the days of the SARS outbreak, is the woman in question.

The idea that SARS-CoV-2 could have arisen by evolutionary adaptation in course of human manipulations during coronavirus study is not junk science.

There is no evidence this occurred at Shi's lab or anywhere else, and the Wuhan lab denies it, as does Shi.

But equally, given that much, accidental or deliberate release would have been possible.

And there is and has been for months plenty of evidence available documenting a very serious shortfall of safety and security measures at that Wuhan lab.

But again there is no evidence that any such release occurred at that lab or anywhere else, and again the lab and Shi deny it.

To further stoke the outrage, Navarro is even whining that in early days China imported PPE to deal with what was happening in China, thus, according to him, causing people to die in the US later when the US faced a shortage of PPE.

How hospitable of him.

In sum, it seems there has all along been plenty of reason to think accidental release of dangerous viruses from that Wuhan lab were possible and might even be eventually likely.

The alarm was real and the risk appears to have been significant.

And it has been proved that this particular virus could have emerged as the result of manipulation of coronavirus samples during research, manipulations not intending that and not involving genetic engineering.

Oh, and the Chinese did buy PPE on the open market to deal with the outbreak, as did nearly everyone, and it was the US on Trump's watch that exported them.

So nearly all elements of the White House propaganda line have a basis in fact.

The bullshit comes with spin and baseless charges, fake news complete with fake outrage.

It comes in with the wholly unsupported claims of deliberate creation or release of this deadly virus, or its accidental creation or release due to criminal negligence or incompetence followed by deliberate concealment to allow it to spread.

And with the further claim that in either case the point was to keep his Miraculous Majesty, the Stable Genius and Most Excellent Human and Superlative President, Ever, Donald Trump, from a second term in the White House.

For that, they say, the evil Chicoms dumped this horror on their own people and the whole world.

All the deaths and all the economic catastrophe to their own country and to all the world were just unfortunate collateral damage.

As for Biden, Navarro said nothing about him and the White House attacks seem only to charge Biden did not, in December or January or maybe even February, make any of these charges against the Chinese, appearing much of that time to exonerate China of any fault worse than negligence and delay in telling the world of the emergence of the virus.

And opposing the initial White House - and very limited - partial ban on travel directly from China to here, and for supporting "job-killing trade bills" with China.

As to the first, the same, of course, could be and has been said and proved and documented of the Stable Genius, himself.

The rest is recycled trade propaganda from 2016 and deceptive exaggeration of the nature and import of that limitation on travel directly from China to here.

Recall that the regnant view is that travelers from Europe brought the virus to New York and the east coast while one or more travelers from China brought it to California.
