27 governors, some Democrats, refuse Syrian refugees.
The Republican congress is seeking ways to stop or delay admission.
The Republican candidates also oppose admission, though the suggestion has been made to allow in Christians among them.
You can imagine what The Nation has made of that, and I did say the other day the left would claim writing religious criteria into immigration policy is unconstitutional.
The claim is ludicrous and the argument absurd arm-waving.
Bernie Sanders promptly labeled these actions "stupid," "racist," and "Islamophobic."
Am I the only one reminded of how quarantine became a partisan issue during the Ebola outbreak several months ago?
Probably not.
And though the attitude of the left at the time was greatly annoying they turned out to be right about the measures demanded by the right being unnecessary.
And this time? Oh, I think so.
Though a radical or two, and maybe even a Jihader, might be planted among the true refugees, just to push our buttons, of course.
WSJ has some interesting comment on this topic, including the bit about admitting Christians.
