The remark is arresting but also baffling.
That would be circumstantial evidence of what, exactly?
JG is writing to discreetly support the laments of other Republicans that Hillary and other leading Democrats do not find the roots of Muslim terrorism in the text of the Koran, in the practice and preaching of Mohammed, in the history of Islam over many centuries, in the brutal violence at the very heart of Islam.
And yet, as he himself notes, some things though obvious are best left unsaid, as saying them would force unwanted consequences - perhaps unwanted to all involved or most of those with a stake.
But perhaps the best thing in his piece is this.

When Obama does talk about terrorism, he’s only comfortable when he frames the issue in a way that puts the blame on America.
That’s why we are constantly hearing that ISIS is inspired by Gitmo.
I wonder: Is there a jihadist anywhere in the world who will pause in his desire to behead an infidel, never mind drop his scimitar mid-swing, upon the glorious news that a prison in Cuba has been closed?
