They falsely made the attack on the mosque out to be a case of home grown Muslim terrorism.
But the attacker was a Trump fan and Muslim hater.
Of course, you might claim it was an innocent guess, based on experience and subjective probability.
But that itself would be most improbable.
So I'm going with deliberate lie, dressed up as innocent error.
