“Urban renewal is Negro removal”

That’s a slogan with which liberals have played the race card for as long as I can remember, and I’m an old coot.

True to historic precedent, Joel Mathis of the Philly Inquirer here plays the race and the poverty cards at the world and city levels, right at the start, to slap around his white readers, soften them up, and get them all guilty before going on the deplore clearing away the rubble to make room for some form of land use of the same acreage that will actually pay for itself.

And what’s the right thing to do, according to JM?

Use lots and lots of tax dollars to give those very same slum dwellers new apartments, right where they are – the same solution liberals have advocated since forever?

Actually, he mentions no alternative but do nothing. Wait. It’ll get better.
