DACA deal? No deal? Connected to the wall? Not connected?

Trump, Dems move closer to deal on DACA

But just where Trump is at on these things varies not just from one day to the next or one hour to the next but from one sentence to the next.

Trump is trolling conservatives. Here are 4 theories why

The piece is good but doesn't distinguish between actual conservatives who actually liked the 250 right-wing loonies whom Trump crushed during the primaries and his obviously far from conservative white nationalist supporters who liked him and his mad-as-hell-and-not-going-to-take-it-any-more approach a hell of a lot more than they liked the Republican party's standard issue ideological crackhead sellers of putrid rot on behalf of the American plutocracy.

Whom is he dissing by palling around with Chuck and Nance?

The party leadership, the establishment bosses of a party in the pockets of the rich.

Whom is he double-crossing with his apparent love of the Dreamers and apparent readiness to at least legalize their residency if not provide them the maximum package that includes a simple path to full citizenship?

Maybe nobody, given today's comments ruling out citizenship and making any deal conditional upon him getting his wall.

Maybe he's just decided to get anything actually done he has to engage the Democrats, and that's actually what all this softness on Dreamers is about.

Which, be it noted, came after his stoppage of the program that mightily pleased the white nationalists.
