Why don’t they like Chuck Hagel?


Justin Raimondo says it’s about interventionism in general and that compared to the foreign policy establishment of both parties Hagel is a “Little Englander.”

All the more interesting (and better) if Obama supports him, then.

Also interesting, as JR points out, is the list of liberal reasons for not wanting Hagel as Secretary of Defense.

JR is pretty accurate on why neocons oppose him.

He makes no real sense on why liberals do.

And he overdoes his protests that these points on which Hagel is accused of being illiberal are irrelevant to the job.

As for the noise about a sort of left-right coalition for a “Welfare/Warfare State,” well, that’s just JR being JR.

Doing his best to make Obama’s support for Hagel utterly inexplicable, without even realizing.
