Nah, they just rejected the Democrat.
As for Sanford’s spectacularly messed up personal life,
well, this is the region that gave us Bill Clinton, isn’t it?
In any case, and very wisely, voters actually do often care
much more about what their elected officials do in office, as officials than
they do about their personal business.
Forced to choose between a squeaky-clean Republican who will
do all he can to undo a century of progressivism or a filthy-dirty Democrat who
would die for Social Security, what would you do?
