Some inconvenient truths related to identity politics, mostly in America.

“Racism” is defined by nearly every dictionary so as to cover hatred of those of a given race or races, the belief that some races are in some inherent respect or respects inferior to others, or the desire that some race or races be subjected to another race or other races.

Despite UN pronouncements made under the sinister influence of liberals and perhaps the even more sinister influence of Muslims, it does not cover hatreds directed at religiously identified groups, at ethnic or political nationalities, or at ethnic/racial subdivisions of the commonly recognized three or four races.

[Aside: Liberal scholarship has for decades with egregious mendacity sought to muddy the waters as to what are the races into which all mankind is divided as well as to deny the very existence of human races.]

Hence it does not cover anti-Semitism or hatred of Muslims; nor, for that matter, hatred of Catholics, Protestants, or Christians in general.

Likewise, it does not cover sexism, “sexism” being understood to mean hatred of humans of either sex, the belief that one (either) sex is in some inherent respect or respects inferior to the other, or the desire that either sex be subjected to the other.

By the way, actual hatred of that sort is probably almost as rare as hen’s teeth, and always has been.

And “misogyny” does not actually mean that, though it is, owing to an over-literal reading of the Greek and more recently also to the sinister influence of feminism, generally translated as “hatred of women.”

Once upon a time, men with too much time on their hands sometimes banded together in clubs of soi-disant “women haters,” getting together periodically to drink and grouse about women much as women today, quite often loudly and deliberately in the presence of males, grouse about men in elevators, around water-coolers, and in office lunchrooms all across America.

The one was probably as harmless - or as harmful! - as the other.

The following dogmas of liberalism are false or anyway not true.

“Nigger” uttered by a white person is a racial insult of such moral gravity as to be morally intolerable far more than any other.

[Aside: The prevalence of that belief and the current “toxicity” of the word are successes of the Orwellian politics of the American left for which they sometimes even publicly award themselves praise. Others include general acceptance of the words "homophobia" and "Islamophobia," as well as the dictionary definitions of "sexism."]

Racism is always and in every sense morally wrong.

Racism regarding non-whites is widespread, deep, and politically important among American whites.

The hatred of whites by non-whites, the belief that whites are inherently inferior to some, any, or all non-whites, and the desire to see whites subjected to the political power of some, any, or all non-whites are not racism.

The widespread hatred of whites, by blacks especially but in varying degrees among other non-whites, is not wrong.

The widespread hatred of whites, by blacks especially but in varying degrees among other non-whites, is not politically harmful even when obviously politically potent.

The desires that the whites of America be politically subject to non-whites or that they be politically subject specifically to blacks are not racist.

The desires that the whites of America be politically subject to non-whites or that they be politically subject specifically to blacks are rare as hen’s teeth rather than common as dirt.

The desires that the whites of America be politically subject to non-whites or that they be politically subject specifically to blacks are not morally reprehensible but rather morally righteous.

The existence of schools, clubs, or business enterprises that are racially exclusive is racist when they are white but not when they are black or other non-white.

The existence of schools, clubs, businesses, or professions that are white only is a terrible injustice and morally ought to be illegal; the existence of schools, clubs, businesses, or professions that are black or other non-white only is not unjust and morally ought to be encouraged.

Sexism is always wrong.

Sexism is widespread and deeply entrenched in American life.

The existence of schools, clubs, businesses, or professions that are male only is a manifestation of sexism; the existence of schools, clubs, businesses, or professions that are female only is not.

The existence of schools, clubs, businesses, or professions that are male only is a terrible injustice and morally ought to be illegal; the existence of schools, clubs, businesses, or professions that are female only is not unjust and morally ought to be encouraged.

The existence of schools, clubs, businesses, or professions that are white only or male only is prohibited under the 14th Amendment; not so the existence of schools, clubs, businesses, or professions that are female only, black only, or other non-white only.
